A Greenwood woman has been charged in a Saturday night stabbing outside a local club, but police are still trying to piece together the details.
Addie McGill, 50, 208 Nichols Ave., has been charged with aggravated assault. She was released today on $5,000 bond.
The victim, Paul Lumpkin, 52, 215 McCain St., told police McGill stabbed him in the side and in the lip, Greenwood Acting Police Chief Ray Moore said.
“According to the victim, he was walking out of a club, and the lady walked up and stabbed him,” said Moore. “He says he doesn’t know why she did it.”
The victim’s statement didn’t name the club, Moore said, and it wasn’t immediately clear where the incident took place.
Investigators are still trying to find witnesses and put together the facts of the case, Moore said. Many of the details of the incident are still a bit fuzzy, including exactly what sort of weapon McGill was allegedly wielding.
“I got a feeling there’ll be more to this story than what’s being told,” Moore said. “We’re trying to get it.”
After being stabbed, Lumpkin was taken to Greenwood Leflore Hospital.
Moore said that Lumpkin’s injuries did not appear serious and that he was expected to recover.
Allison Faulkner, a spokesperson for the hospital, said this morning that Lumpkin was still receiving treatment for his injuries but was in fair condition.
