A third suspect wanted in the Aug. 16 shooting death of D’Alandis Love turned himself into authorities this morning.
Jacarius Keys, 21, 1304 Roosevelt Ave., Apt. F, has been charged with first-degree murder in Love’s death. He remained in the Leflore County Jail this morning.
Leflore County Sheriff Ricky Banks said Keys was accompanied by his lawyer and family members when he surrendered.
Two other Greenwood men — Michael Holland, 23, 704 Mississippi Ave., and David Reedy, 24, 700 Elm St. — were picked up on the day of the shooting and charged with first-degree murder. They remain in the jail.
Love was reportedly travelling in a car with three other men on U.S. 82 when it was repeatedly fired upon by another vehicle. The struck vehicle, riddled with bullets, left the roadway, crossed a field and went into a ditch, where it began to burn.
Love was pronounced dead at the scene.
The vehicle’s three other occupants — Perez Montrell Love, 31, 415 Kinney St.; Kennoris Cortez Stigler, 30, 702 Elm St., Apt. A; and Kelsey Jennings, 29, 1215 Glendale Circle — were all taken to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.
Banks said Perez Love, a cousin of the murder victim, is suffering from a broken shoulder and leg. Although he also was shot in the head, the bullet did not penetrate the skull, the sheriff said.
Authorities have gotten statements from both Perez Love and Jennings, the sheriff said.
Stigler has been unable to make a statement due to his wounds, which are still life-threatening, Banks said.
It is likely that all three suspects also will face attempted murder charges in the near future, according to the sheriff.
Banks declined to comment on what type of weapon or weapons were used in the shooting, saying only that investigators have retrieved 15 to 20 shell casings from the crime scene.
