Troop D of the Mississippi Highway Patrol made 15 DUI arrests in the area during the Thanksgiving holidays.
Statewide, the Mississippi Highway Patrol worked two fatal accidents and investigated a total of 167 collisions that injured 36 people.
Troopers wrote 6,682 citations, including 118 DUIs over the holiday period, from Wednesday evening until midnight Sunday.
Troop D, which serves a 10-county area, also issued 314 hazard citations, which deal with the operation of a motor vehicle, such as speeding, and 156 non-hazard citations, which involve offenses such as driving without a license, driving with a suspended license and not having liability insurance.
The troop also made two arrests for drug offenses, three for seat belt violations and four for child restraint violations and investigated nine collisions.
Mississippi Highway Patrol spokesman Johnny Poulus said troopers worked two fatalities during the same period last year, but there was a slight decrease in overall accidents and injuries from Thanksgiving 2012.
Poulus said one fatality happened Saturday in Wilkinson County when 26-year-old Tarvis A. Bolden lost control of his vehicle and ran off the road.
The other fatality was 16-year-old Joseph R. Grayson, who died from injuries sustained Sunday when his truck ran off the road in Jones County.
Both accidents are under investigation.
