CARROLLTON — Carroll County Sheriff Clint Walker is asking for the public’s help to identify two intruders who attacked and robbed an elderly man at his home on County Road 272 near Carrollton early Thursday morning.
“The 95-year-old had gone outside to take trash out at about 8:30 a.m., and two males ran in on him as he went back into his house. They knocked him down and tied him up,” Walker said. “They took his phone so he couldn’t call anyone.”
County Road 272 leads from U.S. 82 into Carrollton and ends behind the courthouse.
The man, whom Walker said he prefers not to name at this time, said the robbers took cash and some other items.
Walker said the man was able to get himself untied after the suspects left and drove to the sheriff’s office at around 9:30.
“This is a heinous crime against an elderly person. We need the public’s help to find the suspects,” he said.
“We are offering a reward, and anyone can call the sheriff’s office at 237-9284 with information that leads to an arrest. Crime Stoppers will also offer a reward, and people can remain anonymous at either number,” the sheriff said.
The Crime Stoppers number is 800-222-8477 (TIPS).
