Itta Bena police have arrested the last of three suspects in a home invasion and shooting last month.
Cedric White, 18, 104 S. Al Thomas Circle, Itta Bena, was arrested over the weekend and charged with aggravated assault and armed robbery.
Police Chief Robert Kirklin said White had gone to Cleveland, Ohio, but that Kirklin had talked to White over the phone and urged him to turn himself in. Kirklin said he wasn’t sure if White turned himself in or was picked up by officers when they spotted him in town during the holiday weekend.
Kevin Bell, 30, Lot No. 1, McCaleb Trailer Park, was shot in the groin on April 20. According to the chief, three men wearing ski masks and carrying handguns knocked on Bell’s door and told him to “give it up,” but Bell refused. Bell and one of the robbers began to tussle, and Bell was shot, Kirklin said.
Bell was treated at Greenwood Leflore Hospital and then the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. Kirklin said Bell is now out of the hospital and undergoing therapy.
He was able to identify his attackers.
Two suspects, Daminen Johnson, 27, 224 Lincoln St., Itta Bena, and Curtis Harris Jr., had already been charged with aggravated assault and armed robbery before White was arrested, according to Kirklin. Johnson remains in the Leflore County Jail on $40,000 bond, the chief said.
