Two Greenwood teenagers have been charged as adults in the July 27 armed robbery of Family Dollar on Mississippi 7.
Tykarious Tyshaun Jackson, 17, 613 Third Ave., and Tevin Grant, 16, 504 N. Third Ave., remained in the Leflore County Jail this morning. Bond had not been set.
Greenwood Police Chief Ray Moore said the suspects matched descriptions of the robbers provided by witnesses.
Moore said it appeared that Jackson was preparing to rob the Family Dollar again Tuesday when officers spotted him outside the store. Grant was arrested a short time later, the chief said.
Moore said a .22 pistol — believed to have been used in the July 27 incident, in which shots were fired into the building — was recovered Tuesday night.
During the July 27 robbery, one store employee, Mable Hopkins, was cut by flying glass as bullets came through the front door. A second employee, Kelsey Edwards, was also in the store at the time but was uninjured.
The suspects took an undisclosed amount of money from the store’s safe but left the register untouched, according to the incident report.
Moore said the investigation hasn’t revealed any additional suspects.
