Two men have been arrested and charged with armed robbery against a Domino’s pizza delivery driver on July 23.
De’Aries Devonta Smith, 23, 111 Meadowlark St., and Cadwallander Jackson, 18, 916 Curtis Flowers Circle, are jailed on $50,000 bond. If convicted of armed robbery, the suspects could face anywhere from three years to life in prison.
Police say the men robbed the driver of the pizza she was carrying and the cash she had on hand. Police Chief Ray Moore declined to say how much cash was taken.
The driver arrived at the 600 block of Curtis Flowers Circle around 12:45 at night, according to Moore.
“As she left her car and was approaching the address, two males came out from behind the residence,” Moore said. “They had an object in their hand that she took as a gun.”
Moore said no weapon had been recovered. He indicated that others may be involved and said the investigation is ongoing.
Moore said state law dictates that when someone gives the impression of having a weapon while committing a robbery, that is classified as armed robbery.
The suspects ran from the scene and were apprehended several days later — Jackson on July 28 and Smith on July 29. They were identified as suspects through tips, Moore said.
Moore said the Domino’s employee was unharmed physically.
“She is shook up, of course,” he said.
