Two Itta Bena residents have been charged with conspiracy to commit burglary in connection with a break-in Tuesday at an Itta Bena home.
Jasmine Edwards, 21, Sun Manor Apartments, Apt. 6B, and Jahcoby Edwards, 18, Sun Manor Apartments, Apt. 31, were arrested Wednesday, said Leflore County Sheriff Ricky Banks.
Both remained in the Leflore County Jail this morning. Jahcoby Edwards is also charged with residential burglary.
The sheriff said he didn’t know whether the two suspects were related.
Banks said the burglary happened at a home owned by Jessie McClung, located at Pine Acre Ranch, Lot No. 13. Items taken included an unknown amount of cash, a .44-caliber handgun, a .22- caliber handgun and a laptop computer.
Banks said all the items except the cash have been recovered.
Jasmine Edwards was living with McClung before the burglary happened and knew “the ins and the outs of the home” and the precise location of the items taken, he said.
The sheriff said a third suspect is still being sought. That person is believed to have assisted Jahcoby Edwards in the break-in.
Banks declined to identify the third suspect but did say he has had numerous run-ins with the law over the years. The sheriff said the final arrest could happen soon.
