The Nation's Weather for Tuesday, February 27, 2024
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
Showers and thunderstorms will develop across much of the
eastern United States tomorrow as a potent storm shifts
eastward. Some of these thunderstorms can become severe from
Michigan to Arkansas late in the afternoon and at night, and
will be capable of producing locally damaging winds, hail
and even isolated tornadoes. As a strong cold front travels
to the southeast across the Plains and Rockies, snow will
spread from Minnesota to Colorado and Utah, as well as in
the northern Rockies. Behind this front, sharply colder air
will expand across the northern Plains and the Rockies, with
temperatures not getting above the 30s in most places. Very
windy conditions will continue across the Southwest and the
southern Plains, leading to a high risk of wildfires in New
Mexico, northern and western Texas and Oklahoma.
