The Nation's Weather for Wednesday, August 2, 2023
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
A large pocket of cool air relative to historical levels
will persist in the Northeast and Upper Midwest tomorrow. An
area of thundershowers will bring wet conditions to parts of
western New York. In the Southeast, a stalled front and
lingering moisture will trigger an eruption of locally
drenching thunderstorms from Florida to the Carolina coast
and southeastern Louisiana. Farther west, as a major heat
dome persists over Texas and Oklahoma, thunderstorms will
erupt from northeastern Colorado to central Kansas, some
could be severe and bring flash flooding, hail and localized
damaging wind gusts. Meanwhile, there is some risk of severe
storms across portions of the Great Lakes where storms can
bring heavy downpours, damaging winds and hail.
