NATIONAL SUMMARY
Fred will slowly approach the Gulf Coast on Monday as a
tropical storm. The impacts from Fred will increase
throughout the day with heavy rain and gusty winds along and
just east of the center of the storm. The heaviest hit areas
will be in western-most Florida into southeast Mississippi.
Showers and thunderstorms will continue to build across much
of the rest of the eastern U.S. as a weak front lifts
northward. A few of these storms could bring heavy rain
through the Tennessee Valley into the Middle Atlantic. More
scattered thunderstorms will develop in parts of the central
Plains into teh Southwest. The northern Plains will be
largely dry with sunshine and a very hot afternoon as highs
reach 100s again. In the Northwest it will slowly transition
to cooler conditions.
