Services for J.C. Johnson of Schlater will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Byas Mortuary.
Mr. Johnson, 87, died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2026, at his home.
He was an assembler for a computer company.
Visitation will be Friday.
Burial will be in Holmes Chapel Cemetery in Schlater.

Agent remains passionate about 4-H

When many hear about 4-H, they might be surprised to learn what the program has to offer local youths.
The organization continues to offer its livestock program, and although it’s still the largest program, Christina Meriwether, Leflore County coordinator and 4-H agent, said there is so much more to the organization.

Belzoni-based charter school to hold informational meeting

A new Mississippi charter school that uses a hybrid model of learning will host an informational meeting Tuesday in Greenwood.
The meeting for prospective parents and interested community members will be held at Mississippi Delta Community College’s Greenwood Center, located at 204 East Church St. It will begin at 6 p.m.
