Man who killed deputy is denied parole

A man convicted of killing a Leflore County sheriff’s deputy will remain in prison.
Earnest Conrod, 89, was denied parole on Wednesday, according to Jeffery Belk, chairman of the Mississippi Parole Board.

Man, 24, charged in shooting

Greenwood police have charged a 24-year-old Greenwood man with murder and aggravated assault in connection with a drive-by shooting Wednesday that killed two people and injured another.
Christopher “Scooter” McNelson, 112 Ridgeland Road, was arrested Thursday night and remained in the Leflore County Jail on Friday.
