But that might not be worth it, opponents of the online system idea argue, because it opens up the auctions to buyers who have no interest in the local community.

The Greenville Police Department needs your help in locating two missing persons.
Toni Smith and Israel Griffin were both last seen on Wednesday, June 5th around 7 pm, leaving to go door dash.
The two were occupying a black 2006 BMW sedan with a Leflore County tag.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
