Several residents from Leflore and Carroll counties traveled more than 700 miles to watch Ole Miss play in the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska. This weekend, the Rebels will play for the national championship against Oklahoma in the College World Series finals. The best-of-three finals begin Saturday night at Charles Schwab Field.

Board attorney stable after attack

The attorney for the Leflore County Board of Supervisors underwent surgery Monday afternoon at a Jackson hospital after suffering an attack at her home.

A 26-year-old Greenwood man was fatally shot in the Baptist Town neighborhood Saturday afternoon.
Leflore County Coroner Debra Sanders said Travis Binion was traveling in a vehicle with two others on Young Street when the vehicle was struck by gunfire.

Mayor to propose state of emergency

Greenwood Mayor Kenderick Cox is asking his police officers to take the streets back.
To aid them, Cox plans to propose a state of emergency for the city and partner with Leflore County leadership to develop plans to address gun violence.
