Greenwood man, 20, found dead near train tracks

A Greenwood man was found dead on Thursday morning under unknown circumstances.
Desi Jackson Jr., 20, was discovered by his brother at approximately 9:40 a.m., near Avenue C and Bryant Avenue near the train tracks, according to Police Chief Terrence Craft.
Police responded shortly thereafter, he said.

Mississippi Valley State University went into lockdown mode Tuesday after receiving a bomb threat, as have other historically black colleges and universities across the state and the country since Monday.

2 killed in shootings in 2 days

Two men were shot and killed in Leflore County in separate incidents Sunday and Monday.
On Monday afternoon, 42-year-old Accardo Willis of Greenwood was killed in a drive-by shooting not far from a city park.
