2 plead guilty to 2nd-degree murder

Two men in separate domestic violence cases have pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, as announced in a release from District Attorney Dewayne Richardson.
Roy Williams Jr., 39, and Sean Massey, 46, submitted their pleas on Monday, the prosecutor said.

Greenwood man shot, killed

A Greenwood man was killed Friday morning in a drive-by shooting that left seven others injured.
Leflore County Coroner Debra Sanders said Christopher Reed, 32, was shot at the intersection of Johnson Street and Main Street.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
