Zane Hodge, Greenwood’s resident fitness fanatic, never stopped challenging himself to be better.
He passed that trait on to all those he encountered, and it is one of the qualities he is being remembered for following his death on Monday.

Services for DeMarious Marques Jackson of Greenwood will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Providence Missionary Baptist Church.
Mr. Jackson, 29, died Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2022, at Greenwood Leflore Hospital.
He was a merchant in the clothing business.
The Rev. David Henderson will officiate at the services.

Wilson gets warm welcome

About 100 people showed up at the Greenwood Voters League meeting Wednesday night to welcome Dr. Jennifer Wilson as superintendent of the Greenwood Public School District.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
