Deputy court clerk enjoys doing research

Kiyana Hart says she enjoys the environment at the Greenwood Municipal Court.
Hart, 34, works as a deputy municipal clerk under Judge Carlos Palmer. She has been there since January, returning to the job after spending a year at Greenwood Leflore Hospital’s Itta Bena clinic.

1 dies, 1 airlifted after shooting (UPDATED)

A 19-year-old man died Thursday in an exchange of gunfire that began at a highway intersection in Greenwood and continued into a neighboring McDonald’s restaurant.
Leflore County Coroner Debra Sanders said Shackia Stewart of Robinsonville died at Greenwood Leflore Hospital after being brought in after the shooting.
