Man shot, killed at convenience store

A 21-year-old Greenwood man is dead after being shot on Monday at a Leflore County convenience store.
Leflore County Chief Deputy Michael Baldwin said Samar Gary was declared dead at the scene after he was wounded by unknown suspects around 9:28 a.m. at the Triple Stop gas station on Mississippi 430, also known as Humphrey Highway.

Ms. Phillips, 46, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2022, at her residence in Greenwood.

The United Way All-In Event will be held Friday at the Greenwood Country Club. This year’s event will include tennis, golf, bingo, a silent auction, a drawdown, and food and fun.

Milton: Brown not terminated

The Greenwood Leflore Consolidated School Board’s recent decision not to extend the contract of Dr. Mary Brown as superintendent was not a termination, board President Samantha Milton said Tuesday.
The board voted 3-1 earlier this month against extending Brown’s contract, which expires June 30 of next year.
