Memphis med student wins second straight Viking Half Marathon

It was so nice, she had to do it twice: The Viking Half Marathon has a repeat winner for 2022.
Allison Stokes of Memphis was the top finisher in last year’s half marathon and did the same on Saturday.
“Honestly, this is my favorite race of the year,” she said. “I always make sure to come down for it.”

Services for Marlon Edwards of Greenwood will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at The Leflore Hall, next door to Byas Mortuary.
Mr. Edwards, 42, died Saturday, May 22, 2021, from a gunshot wound suffered in a homicide.
He was a carpenter.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at The Leflore Hall.
