J.Z. George student killed in car accident

A J.Z. George High School student was killed in a car accident in Carroll County on Thursday afternoon.
Makylah Banks, 16, a rising junior from Coila, died in a two-vehicle collision around 3 p.m. on U.S. 82, according to a release from the Mississippi Highway Patrol.

5 new officers, 1 new vehicle: Chief says additions fill important need

Five new Greenwood police officers were presented to the City Council on Tuesday.
The officers are now in service, as is a new 2024 Dodge Durango vehicle, which Police Chief Terrence Craft said should help the department in recruiting.
Craft said the new additions fill a vital need.
