Leflore County declares emergency in advance of expected hurricane slamming Gulf Coast

The Leflore County Board of Supervisors issued an emergency proclamation Saturday afternoon in anticipation of Hurricane Ida, the approaching storm that is expected to hit the Gulf Coast late Sunday.

The Greenwood all-stars won the 10U Dizzy Dean South State Tournament by going 3-0, beating West Point 8-1 in the championship game in Houston Sunday. Amanda Elzy senior Demarcus Brown has been selected to the Region 3-3A football first team as an athlete.
Brown played numerous positions for the Panthers this past season. He lined up at wide receiver, quarterback and defensive back.
