Former Lawrence Printing building catches fire

A long-abandoned downtown building that formerly housed Lawrence Printing Co. caught fire Friday morning.
Three Greenwood Fire Department units responded and, in about 30 minutes, were able to put out the blaze at the building, located at the corner of West Market and Cotton streets, across from the Leflore County Courthouse.

2 fatal shootings investigated

Beginning in December, Leflore County went more than five months without a homicide, the longest period without a homicide in more than six years.
That period has ended with the shooting deaths of two men, one on Saturday morning and one Tuesday afternoon.
