Suspect in 2 shooting deaths arrested

Greenwood police have arrested a man believed to be involved in the shooting deaths of two men on Sunday.
Police Chief Terrence Craft said the 23-year-old suspect was arrested Tuesday and was being held for investigation. He said charges had not been filed as of Wednesday morning but should be coming soon.

Robber steals about $4,000 from BankPlus

Greenwood police are looking for a man who robbed the BankPlus branch on U.S. 82 of about $4,000 Wednesday morning while displaying a knife.
Assistant Police Chief Clifton King said detectives are working leads.

Board approves 2 contracts for bronze Till statue

The Leflore County Board of Supervisors approved two contracts between the county and a Utah-based company Monday for the construction of a bronze statue of Emmett Till.
Big Statues is run by sculptor Matt Glen, who has been hired to create the statue.

Mississippi is getting billions from the federal government to provide broadband Internet speeds to the last ten percent of the state which doesn't have high-speed Internet, according to former Brookhaven state senator Sally Burchfield Doty.
