Dr. Arnold Smith, below, became wildly fixated on Lee Abraham, above -- an obsession that prosecutors claimed led to an unsuccessful assassination attempt on the Greenwood attorney in 2012. Smith has not had to face a criminal trial because of his mental illness and settled in 2019 a lawsuit filed by Abraham.
It had the makings of the trial of the century.
