City activates 11 p.m. curfew in response to slayings

Gun violence continues to plague Greenwood and Leflore County.
In response, Mayor Carolyn McAdams has announced a curfew of 11 p.m. for all Greenwood residents to remain in place until Tuesday.
The announcement was made at a press conference in front of City Hall on Friday.

3 injured in shooting

Police are searching for at least one person of interest after a drive-by shooting on Friday night injured three men.
Police Chief Terrence Craft said the shooting happened on the 600 block of Broad Street around 11 p.m.

Man charged in fatal shooting

An 18-year-old has been charged following a shootout on Monday that resulted in one death.
Averian Woodward, who has been in police custody since Monday, was formally charged Thursday afternoon with one count of capital murder and one count of aggravated assault.

Murder suspect's trial postponed

A trial, scheduled for this week, for a Greenwood man accused of killing his brother has been postponed.
Tyrell Stigler, 25, has been charged with first-degree murder in the 2018 death of Jakarrius Thomas, who was 19.
