Two charged in Rising Sun shooting death of toddler

Two men have been charged with murder in connection with the Tuesday night shooting in Rising Sun that took the life of a 21-month-old girl.
Both of the accused — Jakiran Fiffer, 19, 117 Champagne St., and Milton Hancock, 20, 418 Star St. — reside in the Leflore County subdivision where the fatal shooting occurred.

Parishioners of a Greenwood Catholic church are reeling after discovering their place of worship vandalized on Wednesday evening.

The husband of a nurse who drowned Wednesday night in a ditch off U.S. 49E, south of Greenwood, says authorities were too late in posting signs like this and taking other preventive measures to warn motorists about the flooded highway that claimed his wife’s life. ‘I’m pissed’: Husband says road should have been blocked

The husband of the nurse who drowned when her car was swept off a flooded Leflore County highway Wednesday is furious the road wasn’t blocked off before his wife reached the life-threatening stretch.
And he says he’s planning to sue the Mississippi Department of Transportation and two county governments over her death.
