Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church in Yazoo City prior to the 2 p.m. funeral service. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery.

Council chooses fire chief; no vote on police chief nominee

Greenwood has a new fire chief, but the City Council continues to balk at Mayor Kenderick Cox’s pick for police chief.
The council unanimously approved promoting veteran firefighter Martrellis McDowell to fire chief at Tuesday’s meeting. McDowell has been with the department since 1995.
