Amanda Elzy senior Demarcus Brown has been selected to the Region 3-3A football first team as an athlete.
Brown played numerous positions for the Panthers this past season. He lined up at wide receiver, quarterback and defensive back.

Graveside services for Doris Stanley of Greenwood will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Lockalonia Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
Ms. Stanley, 82, died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2025, at her home.
She was a retired factory worker.
Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday at Pilgrim Rest M.B. Church.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
