J.Z. George student killed in car accident

A J.Z. George High School student was killed in a car accident in Carroll County on Thursday afternoon.
Makylah Banks, 16, a rising junior from Coila, died in a two-vehicle collision around 3 p.m. on U.S. 82, according to a release from the Mississippi Highway Patrol.

Man shot, killed at convenience store

A 21-year-old Greenwood man is dead after being shot on Monday at a Leflore County convenience store.
Leflore County Chief Deputy Michael Baldwin said Samar Gary was declared dead at the scene after he was wounded by unknown suspects around 9:28 a.m. at the Triple Stop gas station on Mississippi 430, also known as Humphrey Highway.

Itta Bena’s Dunn to lead Delta Council

CLEVELAND — An Itta Bena farmer will lead Delta Council for the next year.
Clint Dunn, a partner in Dunn Farms and one of the business community’s strongest supporters of Greenwood Leflore Hospital, was introduced as the Delta Council president during the organization’s 90th annual meeting Friday.
