Crews from Delta Electric Power Association work on repairs and restoration efforts in Carroll and Montgomery Counties Monday. The power company said crews are working diligently across all circuits in the counties still without power. Servicemen are also reconnecting those who have had repairs where electricians were needed.

County approves $200k to help Itta Bena power restoration

The city of Itta Bena is getting help from the Leflore County Board of Supervisors to get power restored to residents.
The board approved committing $200,000 for the restoration efforts during its regularly scheduled meeting Monday, with District 1’s Sam Abraham dissenting.

2 fatal shootings investigated

Beginning in December, Leflore County went more than five months without a homicide, the longest period without a homicide in more than six years.
That period has ended with the shooting deaths of two men, one on Saturday morning and one Tuesday afternoon.
