When Christmas is over, take decorations down

Sometimes I think I need to play Barney Fife and get a badge,and blue light so I can make a citizen’s arrest. I’m talking about people who leave their Christmas decorations and tree up way too long.
Now I know I shouldn’t judge, but after Christmas is over, it is over, and we’ve just got to let those decorations go.

Charles ‘Bobby’ Thomas Hurst

Charles “Bobby” Thomas Hurst, 61, of Greenwood died Monday, Sept. 8, 2025, at his residence.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home with visitation from 1 p.m. until service time. The Rev. Dustin Long will officiate. Interment will be in Valley Hill Methodist Church Cemetery.

3rd man pleads guilty in shooting

A third man, Jakeldris Hunt, has pleaded guilty to the 2021 fatal shooting of John Brown in Sidon.
Earlier this week, Hunt pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder in Brown’s death.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.
