Council approves McDowell as fire chief

The Greenwood City Council has approved Martrellis McDowell as the city’s new fire chief.
McDowell, who has been with the Fire Department since 1995, was approved unanimously Tuesday. He succeeds Marcus Banks, who was dismissed last month on Mayor Kenderick Cox’s first day in office.

3 officers injured in shooting; MBI investigating

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is investigating a Monday night shooting in Greenwood in which three police officers were injured, according to a statement released Tuesday from the Mississippi Department of Public Safety.
