Services for Jerome Sanders of Greenwood will be at 11 a.m. Sunday at Locust Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
Mr. Sanders, 65, died Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis.
He was a cook at Golden Age nursing home.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Century Funeral Home.

Research center studies gun violence

The Mississippi Center for Violence Research, a new program launched by the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, seeks not only to prevent violence but also to enact preventive strategies to reduce it.
The center was created in April.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
