Collision on U.S. 82

A multi-vehicle collision at the intersection of Whittington Park Road and U.S. 82 around 5 p.m. Tuesday caused drivers on the highway to slow down as they passed. A bystander said three vehicles were involved, a gray Chevrolet Impala, a red Buick Enclave and a gray Nissan Titan. There was no information on any injuries.

Athletic directors to speak at Delta Council meeting

Museum supporters: Reconsider funding cuts

The Museum of the Mississippi Delta’s board is asking county officials to reconsider reducing the county’s funding to the museum.
Several members of the museum’s board and its executive director, Lisa Cookston, attended the Leflore County Board of Supervisors’ Monday meeting.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
