Ben Snow of Hattiesburg was walking the green in preparation for his next shot when the horn sounded and play was halted because of inclement weather Friday afternoon at the Greenwood Invitational. The golfers were able to return to playing around 4 p.m. to complete the first round. Second-round action starts Saturday morning and the players will be flighted for Sunday’s action at the Greenwood Country Club. Josh Lampley of Gulfport opened with a 64 in the first round Friday to grab the lead. Taylor McCollum of Pelham, Alabama, is in second place with a 65, and John Mark Mills of Pontotoc and Brett Patterson of Oxford, last year’s champion, are tied for third with 68. Greenwood’s Michael Naaman opened with a 71 on the par-72 course. Most of the Greenwood area golfers were still on the course as of press time Friday.
