Lady Mustangs down Lady Generals; CA sweeps Hebron

Pillow Academy rebounded from a loss to Leake Academy earlier in the week to defeat Washington School 52-33 Thursday night in Greenville.
Pillow (4-2) led 12-7 after the first frame, 28-12 at the half and 43-25 after the third period.

Several months ago, I decided to drink water and erase soft drinks from my diet. I don’t make sweet tea at home unless we have company. It is water only for me. I must admit that if I am dining out or with friends, I will have sweet tea or a soft drink.

Fastpitch Softball: Senior Nix leads Pillow by St. Joe

Senior Kylee Nix tossed a no-hitter in leading the Pillow Academy fastpitch softball team to a 9-0 win over visiting Madison St. Joe in the District 1-4A opener Thursday night at Robertson Field.
Nix (4-3) went five innings, walking three and striking out six. At the plate, she had a single and scored a run.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
