Man, 26, charged in shooting

The Greenwood Police Department has charged a 26-year-old Greenwood man with murder in connection with last year’s drive-by shooting that killed Accardo Willis.
In addition to murder, Detreka Thomas Jr. was charged with a drive-by shooting and shooting into an occupied dwelling.

Dollar General robbed; about $13,000 taken

Three armed men robbed the Dollar General store on Mississippi 7 Friday night and made off with about $13,000.
Authorities first received a call about the robbery at 10:54 p.m. Friday, according to the Greenwood Police Department’s incident report. By the time officers arrived at 11 p.m, the suspects had fled.

Greenwood man fatally shot Saturday

A 26-year-old Greenwood man was fatally shot in the Baptist Town neighborhood Saturday afternoon.
Leflore County Coroner Debra Sanders said Travis Binion was traveling in a vehicle with two others on Young Street when the vehicle was struck by gunfire.
