Players of the Week: DSA’s Link, three others honored for play

Delta Streets Academy’s Lance Link had another outstanding night on the gridiron Friday.
Even though the Lions lost 66-38 to Columbus Christian, Link had a banner performance and has been selected as one of the Commonwealth’s Players of the Week.

As summer break begins to come to a close, a free learning opportunity opens itself to young minds in grades 3-5.
The Onnie M. Elliot Community Service Center will be opening registration for its after-school program at the James Ella Crain Dickinson Education Building on 301 Broad St.

Prep Roundup: Carroll girls record 5th win; DSA boys fall

The Lady Rebels of Carroll Academy moved to 5-0 on the season with a 30-26 win over visiting Winona Christian School Monday night in Carrollton.
The Lady Rebels led 8-7 after the first quarter, but Winona took a 12-10 lead by halftime. The Lady Rebels caught fire in the third period and led 23-15 headed to the fourth frame.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
