Pillow netters fare well on first day at North 4A

The Pillow Academy varsity girls tennis team had a successful first day at the MAIS 4A North State Championships in Meridian Thursday, with all seven varsity tennis players qualifying for the state championships in Jackson.

The Greenwood Commonwealth took time on Tuesday to recognize Casey Barrentine as the newspaper’s 2026 Community Service Award recipient. Publisher Brent Maze, left, presents Barrentine, right with a donation to the organization of her choice, Gracefully Broken ministry. The organization was founded in 2020 to extend the compassionate hand of Christ to people whose lives have been affected by addiction, offering them not just material support but a pathway toward spiritual renewal and transformation.
