Debris needs to go

I live in the block between Adams and Monroe avenues, just south of North Greenwood Baptist Church. Mercury Lane is the alley that runs through that block. A very long and large pile of debris, limbs and sticks has been in that alley for two and a half months, following the Jan. 24-25 ice storm.

A big watch party for Greenwood

Greenwood really showed out to recognize one of its own last Thursday. The Museum of the Mississippi Delta hosted a viewing party for Mississippi Public Broadcasting’s show “Southern Dish,” hosted by state. Sen. Lydia Chassaniol, who represents part of Leflore County.

Around 90 people attended the viewing party of Mississippi Public Broadcasting’s “Southern Dish,” featuring state Sen. Lydia Chassaniol, at the Museum of the Mississippi Delta on Thursday night. This episode highlighted Greenwood chef Taylor Bowen Ricketts and her restaurant, Fan and Johnny’s, located at 117 Main St. Here Chassaniol talks about the series and this episode prior to its live showing on MPB. The show will air again on Monday and is also available at mpbonline.org.
