Greenwood City Council incumbents in Wards 4, 5 and 7 retained their seats with easy wins in Tuesday’s primaries.

Ward 4’s Charles McCoy received 72% of the 318 votes cast in the ward on Tuesday, according to the unofficial results.

Woman sues over fall at grocery store

A Greenwood woman has filed a lawsuit against the Save-A-Lot grocery store on Park Avenue, saying she slipped and fell in hot sauce there last June.

According to the suit filed in Leflore County Circuit Court, Mary Banks is asking for $100,000 in compensatory damages and attorney fees.

On Thursday, the Greenwood-Leflore County Chamber of Commerce welcomed a new restaurant downtown.

Valour Cobbins, the owner of Bread and Butter Shoppe on Howard Street, said she has big plans for the space, which is at the former site of The Winery at Williams Landing.

Delta Streets duo earns top All-Commonwealth honors

So much has changed for J.T. Lawrence over the past year — a new school, new teammates and a new role carrying the scoring load for his squad — but one thing remained the same for the junior guard: He still repeated as a state champion. And there never seemed to be much doubt about it.

Greenwood City Council elections: 3 incumbents roll

Greenwood City Council incumbents in Wards 4, 5 and 7 retained their seats with easy wins in Tuesday’s primaries.

Ward 4’s Charles McCoy received 72% of the 318 votes cast in the ward on Tuesday, according to the unofficial results.
