The Mississippi Valley State men’s basketball team missed out on qualifying for the SWAC Tournament as the Delta Devils finished tied for last in the 10-team league with Alabama A&M.
MVSU lost 91-57 Saturday as Martaveous McKnight had 28 points in Arkansas-Pine Bluff’s rout 91-57 of Valley on Saturday.
Mississippi Valley State put up just 21 points in the second half, a season low for the team.
Dante Scott had 21 points for the Delta Devils, who finish the season at 6-26, 4-14 in the SWAC. Gregory Jones-Rollins added 10 points. Jordan Evans had 10 points.
Only the top eight teams make the postseason tournament in the SWAC.
The Valley women are the eighth seed and will face top-seeded Southern. Mississippi Valley State punched its ticket to the tournament with an 82-63 win over UAPB. Southern swept the regular season meetings between the teams.
