Landon Taylor hurled a gem of a game and went 3-for-3 at the plate to help Pillow Academy to its fourth straight win.
The junior right-hander pitched a complete game, scattering eight hits through seven innings while striking out 10 in a 4-3 victory Tuesday over Magnolia Heights Monday at PA's Louis Coleman Field.
"It's the second time in the last couple of weeks that Landon has thrown a great game for us," Pillow coach Tim Burton said. "He did a good job of keeping them off balance with his curve ball."
Taylor, however, didn't get off to a great start. After walking the leadoff batter in the top of the first inning, Taylor gave up a home run as the Chiefs grabbed a quick 2-0 lead.
That would be Taylor's only walk of the game.
Pillow cut its defcit in half in the third with Taylor's solo home run.
The Mustangs then went ahead 3-2 in the fourth. Magnolia Heights tied the game at 3-all in the top of the fifth.
Pillow struck for the eventual game-winning run in the bottom of the fifth.
Gaston Lyon, Adam Crick, Parker Harris and Zack Davis each had a hit.
Pillow, now 8-14 overall, 6-10 in the North AAA Division II standings, plays a doubleheader at Magnolia Heights today.
