The Pillow Academy tennis team remained perfect on Tuesday afternoon, cruising past Magnolia Heights, 8-1, to improve to 5-0 this season.
No. 1 boys singles Noah Lary kicked off action with a 6-0, 6-1 rout of the Chiefs’ Nathan Fernholtz.
The Mustangs’ girls singles standouts stayed unbeaten as top player Dia Chawla swept Ellie Smith, 6-0, 6-0. Fellow junior Avery McDaniel handled business against Savannah Tapp, 6-0, 6-1.
No. 2 boys singles Druvh Patel suffered the lone loss of the day, 6-2, 6-2, against Charlie Murphee.
In doubles play, the top Pillow boys duo of William Brown and Arnav Thakur earned a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Riley and Reese Bittell. The No. 2 boys doubles team of Walker Saia and Richard McQueen beat Colt Crabtree and Roshan Khan, 6-0, 6-1.
The top girls doubles duo of Madison Jefcoat and Liz Powers swept Ella Hill and Hayden Brown, 6-0, 6-0. The No. 2 girls doubles team of Anne Craig Melton and Julia Love Lyon capped an undefeated day for Pillow’s girls players by beating Miller Blaylock and Elizabeth Farmer, 6-0, 6-1.
In mixed doubles action, Sumer Tackett and Caroline Brock picked up a 6-0, 6-1 win.
The Mustangs will attempt to stretch their winning streak to six games when they host Washington School on Thursday at 2:30 p.m.
