The Pillow Academy boys squad faces archrival Washington School at home Monday night with the North AAAA, Division II title on the line.
Pillow enters the contest with a 9-1-1 record and are 3-0 in conference play. Washington enters the contest with a 10-4-1 record and is 2-1 in conference play. In an earlier matchup, Pillow defeated Washington in Greenville 3-1 in a double overtime thriller.
Pillow is led by senior Sunjay Chawla with 30 goals and junior Jeffrey Bready with 18. Pillow’s strong defensive play this year has been anchored by goalkeeper Floyd Melton IV. Supporting the goalie is a defensive line including Porter Spell, Jaden Simcox, Richard McQueen and Austin Alderman.
Pillow is seeking its third straight North conference title and a subsequent bye in the quarterfinals of the state playoffs. Pillow has to either win the game outright, or lose by only one goal to Washington, to clinch the bye and guarantee a home date in the semifinals.
The key matchup Monday starts at 6:15 pm on the campus at Pillow Academy at Chazzy Moor Field.
