Pillow Academy heads into the playoffs off a 48-6 rout of East Rankin Friday night at Bill Davis Field and will face an old, familiar foe next week.
The Mustangs will play at archrival Washington School next Friday after the Generals lost 17-6 to Magnolia Heights. It will be a rematch of a game PA won 33-29 two weeks ago.
The Mustangs (5-6) scored on their first six possessions against an ERA team that ends the season at 1-10.
Pillow led 41-0 at the half as it cruised to a win on Senior Night.
Senior running back Floyd Melton IV had 100 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries, while senior running back Lake Giachelli had 50 yards and one touchdown on three carries. Senior receiver Breck Bolin had three catches for 24 yards and a TD.
Pillow had 18 first downs in the contest, compared to one for the Patriots, who finished with just 87 total yards, all of which came in the second half.
The Mustangs put up 357 total yards, including 278 on the ground.
Sophomore Alex Tanksley helped with that, picking up 80 yards and a touchdown on four carries.
Pillow opened the scoring on a 13-yard run by Melton. Then junior quarterback Shane Houston Stephens had a 24-yard TD pass to Bolin. Stephens followed that with a 5-yard scoring strike to Jack Reichle and another to Bolin, this time from 13 yards out.
Giachelli and Melton had rushing touchdowns of 1 and 10 yards, respectively, to close out the first-half scoring.
Tanksley had a 6-yard TD scamper in the third quarter.
