The Pillow Academy girls rolled past Oxford High School Tuesday night at PA to improve to 17-9 on the season with a 59-46 victory.
Pillow trailed 13-12 at the end of the first period but responded with a scoring burst in the second to take a 30-23 advantage into the half.
The Lady Mustangs led 47-30 after three quarters of play.
Kaylee Jones continues to pave the way for the PA offense, scoring a game-high 25 points to go with eight rebounds and four steals. Julia Love Lyon chipped in with 11 points, four steals and three assists.
The results from the boys game didn’t go PA’s way as Oxford flattened the Mustangs, 78-50.
Shane Houston Stephens continued his hot hand with a team-high 23 points for PA. Josh Moor and Eli Jones each added eight points as Pillow slips to 10-8 on the year.
In junior high action, the PA girls edged Oxford 37-32 to move to 18-4.
Elise Howard paved the way with 10 points and eight rebounds, while her twin sister, Avery, added eight points. Larkin Camp also had eight points to go along with eight rebounds.
The Pillow junior high boys picked up a 43-41 win to move to 13-5.
Hayes Bennett pumped in a team-high 15 points. Drew Lamb and Charlie Robbins added 10 each.
Pillow hosts conference rival Magnolia Heights on Friday.
n Carroll Academy: The Rebels picked up a “huge team win” in beating District 2 North 3A foe Oak Hill 47-42 Tuesday night in Carrollton.
Oak Hill held a slim 12-9 lead after the first period and was up 25-23 at the half. Carroll tied the game at 35-35 by the end of the third frame and outscored the Raiders 12-7 in the fourth.
Reese Fulton led the Rebels with 17 points and 14 rebounds, and Logan Taylor had 13 points. Austin Smith notched six points.
Carroll is now 13-2 overall 6-1 in district. Oak Hill, which owns a 60-42 win over Carroll, is 5-1 in league play with two games remaining.
In the girls game, the Lady Rebels moved to 4-3 in district with a 44-21 triumph over Oak Hill. Carroll (16-10) led 6-5 after one, 19-8 at the half and 36-17 at the end of the third period.
Gracie Turner had 18 points, eight rebounds and seven steals, and Dru Chamblee tallied eight points and made six steals. Lainey Claire Dunn had six points and six rebounds.
Carroll is at Indianola Friday.
