Senior Grayson Wells put together a solid outing in the circle and at the plate as she led Pillow Academy to a 10-0 win over visiting Washington School Tuesday in North AAA action.
The Lady Mustangs, who improve to 14-3 overall and 2-0 in conference play, led 5-0 after two innings of play. They tacked on four runs in the third and one in the fifth.
Wells (10-2) went the distance as she allowed just four hits, did not walk a batter and struck out six. She had a single, two doubles and drove in four runs.
Andie O'Bryant had an RBI double.
Airrin Woolfolk, Anna Robertson, Bethany Tillman, Karlye Burden and Mary Hayden Rodgers had a single each. Woolfolk had one RBI.
In the junior varsity game, Pillow won 8-6 to up its record to 6-0. Sara Beth Steen (5-0) got the win in the circle.
Pillow entertains Carroll Academy today with a junior varsity game at 4:30 and the varsity contest to follow at 5:45.
nCA wins pair: Carroll Academy swept a doubleheader from Humphreys Academy Tuesday in Carrollton to improve to 17-3-1 overall, 5-0 in district play.
In the first game, the Lady Rebels pounded out nine hits in a 15-0 victory as Hope Clanton (7-1) spun a one-hit shutout with five strikeouts.
Avery Thornton had a two-run single in the first inning to get things rolling for CA.
In the second, Madison Shelton singled and scored on a Clanton double, and in the third, Thornton and Cori McCrary had inside-the-park homers.
In the second game, CA won 13-1 as Sandy Tackett was the winning pitcher.
She went four innings for the Lady Rebels, giving up one run on one hit and striking out eight.
Sydney Liddell had two hits, including a home run. Megan Shelton added a double, while McCrary and Madison Turner each had a home run.
